National Nursing Student Association (NanSA)

Salam to all my dear fellow friends..

This entry is about an on-progress planning of the establishment of a National Nursing Student Association in Malaysia. This is a significant outcome of the 1st National Nursing Symposium in IIUM, Kuantan Campus in March 2009.

Below is a brief introduction of the association.

Hopefully, I will get responses from friends whoever wish to say any words of suggestion or inquiry or critic..SOmetimes people see what we dont see, and by SHARING we can be better as a big strong unit.

Introduction

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and Compassionate
Nursing is a noble profession and highly sought after (demanding). Towards producing better holistic nurses in the future, the platform should be established to fine-tune the nurses’ interpersonal and intrapersonal skills as much as possible during their 3-years or 4-year basic nursing training /education. Hence, the National Nursing Students Association is proposed to be the platform for the Malaysian nursing students from all higher learning institutions (IPTA, IPTS and Ministry of Health @ KKM). The National Nursing Students Association (NaNSA) is the professional organization for student nurses. NaNSA is a non-profit making organization dedicated to fostering the professional development of nursing students.

Objectives

a) To assemble all nursing students from all nursing schools in Malaysia under one roof of national association.
b) To care for students’ welfare and necessities with a cooperation from higher administration.
c) To organize periodically events academically or non-academically to bring together all students and to strengthen the brotherhood among nursing students nationally.
d) Convey the standards and ethics of the nursing profession;
e) Advocate for and contribute to advances in nursing education;
f) Develop nursing students who are prepared to lead the profession in the future

Organizer

Nursing Students Society (IIUM) and all higher learning institution (IPTA, IPTS and Ministry of Health)

Benefits of Membership

a) Being connected with other nursing students from other nursing schools. Information, experiences and lessons leading to improvement of oneself in nursing education, can be shared and exchanged.
b) Being able to join activities organized by this association academically and non-academically.
c) Members’ welfare will be looked after with a cooperation from nursing school administration.
d) Sense of belonging is nurtured for the members. Members have experiences being in a group of people who have the same interest, thus they can benefit from the brotherhood in the future nursing profession

Activities (suggestion)

a) Community health

Community health involvement by nursing students has become an important contribution to the health and well-being of the total community. Projects carried out at the local level by nursing students provide a service to the community while giving students an opportunity to utilize knowledge and skills.

b) Inter nursing school sport’s day.

A sport’s day involving nursing school all over Malaysia can bring together members of the association by representing their nursing school in sport activities. This event can inculcate awareness towards healthy life and can build up the brotherhood among the members.

c) Academic activities
Academic activities include organizing conferences, debate tournament, seminars and so on to instill the knowledge devotedness in the mind of the nursing students. These activities can be organized by any nursing school with proper arrangement through discussion.

2nd meeting regarding NaNSA, UITM Kolej Alamanda.~thanks to all
